Quick Navigation

A citation in a Google AI Overview can more than double your organic clicks. Seer Interactive’s 2026 study tracked 53 brands and 5.47 million queries. Brands cited in the AI Overview averaged a 2.07% organic click-through rate in 2025. Brands on the same results page that were not cited averaged 0.94%.
That gap matters most on the searches your buyers run before they hire anyone. The same study found AI Overviews on 95.4% of comparison queries. “Best agency for X” is a comparison query. So the AI summary often decides your shortlist before a buyer clicks a single link.
Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the work of getting named in those answers. That includes Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. It also covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Some agencies call it GEO or AI SEO. The labels differ, but the goal is the same.
This guide ranks the eight US agencies doing this work best in 2026. We start with our own team and the results behind it. Then we cover seven other firms that each do strong work in a specific lane. Each entry lists founding year, headquarters and what the agency does well. A marketing director can build a shortlist in minutes.
For how we run AEO for clients, see our AI SEO services page.

1. Jives Media
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2012 |
| Headquarters | San Francisco, CA |
| Best for | Brands that need AI visibility to turn into leads |
| Key differentiator | AEO, SEO and paid media run as one system, reported against revenue |
| Specialties | AEO, AI SEO, SEO, Google Ads, Meta ads |
Jives Media runs AEO for brands that want AI search to produce customers. Most brands we audit have the same two problems. Their pages open with a welcome message instead of an answer, and their key facts sit in images or scripts AI tools can’t read. On top of that, nobody on the team checks whether ChatGPT names them at all.
We fix those gaps first. Then we build the content and authority that get a brand cited.
The Jives operating principles for AEO
We built our AEO practice around six commitments.
- Citations over vanity rankings. We track how often AI tools name your brand for the questions your buyers ask. A #1 ranking that never gets cited is a weaker asset than it looks.
- Answer-first pages. Every key page opens with a plain, specific answer. AI tools often read only the top of a page, so that’s where your facts go.
- Technical access for AI crawlers. Prices, service areas and FAQs live in plain HTML. Schema markup describes your business, products and reviews.
- Off-site authority. AI tools trust what other sites say about you. We build that through digital PR, reviews and a complete Google My Business (GMB) listing.
- One connected growth system. AEO, SEO, Google Ads and Meta ads work from the same data. AI Overviews cut paid click-through rates too, so organic and paid plans can’t run in separate silos.
- Revenue-level reporting. Reports show AI referral traffic, leads and sales. A visibility score alone tells you little.
How Jives runs an AEO engagement
Every engagement follows the same core process.
- Question research. We map the questions buyers ask AI tools about your category. These run longer and more conversational than typed searches.
- Content with real expertise. We build pages that show first-hand experience and clear sourcing. Thin pages rarely get cited.
- Structured data. We add and test schema so AI systems can read your business details correctly.
- Prompt testing. We run your target questions through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode. Then we record who gets cited and why.
- Digital PR. We earn mentions on the sites AI tools already cite in your category.
Most clients see measurable movement in three to six months.
AEO built for specific industries
We publish detailed AEO playbooks for the industries we know best. See our guides on AEO for jewelry stores, AEO for roofing companies and AEO for car dealerships. Credit unions can start with our guide to SEO for credit unions.
Client results
| Client | Result |
|---|---|
| Health Plan of San Mateo | +100% search visibility year over year; +10% new member applications |
| Trinity Building Services | +100% B2B clients; +10% organic traffic year over year |

Across all clients, Jives has driven more than $500 million in revenue through organic search. We hold 5-star ratings on Clutch and UpCity.
No long-term contracts
Jives doesn’t lock clients into multi-year agreements. Each engagement runs on measurable milestones. Clients stay because the results hold up.

Pro tip: Ask any agency on this list how it measures AEO success. If the answer stops at a “visibility score,” keep shopping. You want AI referral traffic and leads in the report.
2. iPullRank
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2014 |
| Headquarters | New York, NY |
| Best for | Enterprise brands with large, technically complex sites |
| Key differentiator | Relevance engineering, a method that blends information retrieval, content strategy and AI |
| Specialties | Technical SEO, GEO, content engineering, AI search strategy |
Mike King founded iPullRank in 2014. He won Search Engine Land’s Search Marketer of the Year award in 2025, his second win. The agency made the 2026 Inc. 5000 list.
iPullRank is known for deep technical work on how AI search systems retrieve content. It published the free AI Search Manual. It also built Qforia, a free tool that simulates the query fan-out behind Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. Many Fortune 100 clients sign NDAs, so most case studies are anonymized. One cites $2.4 billion in incremental revenue for a financial services client.
What iPullRank does well
- Explains how AI search systems choose sources at an engineering level
- Handles huge enterprise sites with years of technical debt
- Gives away research and tools that other SEOs use daily
- Runs a formal AI Search Strategy Program for enterprise teams
Pro tip: iPullRank fits best when your problem is technical and your budget is enterprise-sized. One 2026 industry roundup put its engagement minimum around $50,000.
3. Omniscient Digital
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2019 |
| Headquarters | Austin, TX |
| Best for | B2B SaaS companies with a content-led growth model |
| Key differentiator | Content strategy and editorial quality built for AI citations and pipeline |
| Specialties | B2B content, SEO, GEO, digital PR |
Alex Birkett and David Ly Khim started Omniscient Digital in 2019 as a side project. Allie Konchar later joined as the third co-founder. The team now has 30-plus people, with offices listed in Austin, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.
Omniscient works almost only with B2B software brands. Past clients include Jasper, SAP, Asana, Loom and Hotjar. The agency has published its own analysis of more than 23,000 AI citations. Its own guide lists pricing from $10,000 per month.
What Omniscient Digital does well
- Writes B2B content with real input from subject matter experts
- Measures content against pipeline instead of pageviews
- Publishes its own research on how AI tools cite B2B brands
Pro tip: Omniscient fits a funded SaaS company that sees content as its main growth channel. It’s less suited to local or retail businesses.
4. NoGood
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2017 |
| Headquarters | New York, NY |
| Best for | Growth-stage and enterprise brands that want a dedicated AEO team |
| Key differentiator | Runs AEO on Goodie, an AI visibility platform launched by NoGood’s founder |
| Specialties | AEO, growth marketing, performance marketing, content |
Mostafa ElBermawy founded NoGood in New York in 2017. The agency has more than 70 people and offices in Miami and Dubai. Clients include Nike, TikTok, MongoDB, Intuit and Chime.
NoGood runs AEO as a separate discipline with its own team. Its team runs AEO through Goodie, a platform that tracks brand visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. NoGood reports a 23x year-over-year rise in AI search traffic for SteelSeries. It also used the approach on itself. In a published case study, its AI referral traffic rose 335% in five months.
What NoGood does well
- Tracks visibility across the major AI tools through software it controls
- Pairs AEO with digital PR and citation work outside your site
- Tested the method on its own brand before selling it
- Works with venture-backed startups and Fortune 100 brands alike
Pro tip: Ask NoGood how its reporting separates Goodie’s metrics from your own analytics. Tool data and CRM data should agree before you judge results.
5. Seer Interactive
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2002 |
| Headquarters | Philadelphia, PA |
| Best for | Enterprise teams that want AI search decisions driven by data |
| Key differentiator | Original AI Overview research across paid and organic search |
| Specialties | SEO, GEO, paid media, analytics, AI consulting |
Wil Reynolds founded Seer Interactive in 2002. The agency serves more than 130 enterprise clients and reports a 92% retention rate. It’s a certified B Corp and a 2026 Google Premier Partner.
Seer’s research on AI Overviews and click-through rates is among the most cited in the industry. The 2026 update found paid click-through rates also fall when an AI Overview appears. Seer runs AI consulting through its SeerAdvance practice and offers GEO as a service line.
What Seer Interactive does well
- Publishes large-sample research on how AI Overviews change clicks
- Puts organic and paid search data in one view
- Keeps enterprise clients for years, with a reported 92% retention rate
- Offers AI consulting that goes beyond search
Pro tip: Read Seer’s AI Overview research even if you never hire them. It’s free, and it’s the best public data on the topic. Hire them when you run big paid and organic programs side by side.
6. Siege Media
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2012 |
| Headquarters | San Diego, CA |
| Best for | Consumer and SaaS brands that grow through content and links |
| Key differentiator | Content and digital PR at scale, now aimed at AI citations |
| Specialties | Content marketing, digital PR, SEO, GEO |
Ross Hudgens founded Siege Media in August 2012. The agency has made the Inc. 5000 list six years in a row. Hudgens also wrote Generative Engine Optimization: The Definitive Guide to AI SEO, published by Wiley.
Siege has worked with Zapier, Airbnb, HubSpot, Zillow and Chime. Its approach to AI search builds on what it already does well: content that earns links and press. Siege reports that it helped Mentimeter generate 250,000 visits from ChatGPT.
What Siege Media does well
- Makes content and design that earn links without heavy outreach
- Runs digital PR that lands brands on the sites AI tools cite
- Has a deep client list in fintech, SaaS and ecommerce
- Put its whole GEO method in print, so you can read it before you hire
Pro tip: Call Siege when your problem is that nobody else writes about you. It’s a weaker fit if your site has technical issues first.
7. Graphite
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | Not publicly listed |
| Headquarters | San Francisco, CA |
| Best for | Venture-backed tech companies past product-market fit |
| Key differentiator | In-house AI research team that tests what moves AEO results |
| Specialties | AEO, SEO, growth strategy |
Ethan Smith leads Graphite as CEO. He came up through user research and in-house growth roles at tech companies. The team includes a Chief AI Officer with a PhD, and its research drives client strategy.
Graphite’s clients include Webflow, MasterClass, BetterUp and n8n. It reports that n8n drives 9% of its conversions through AEO. Graphite also published a 2026 study finding that half of all new web content is now AI-generated. Its AEO work reaches beyond a client’s own site into platforms like Reddit and YouTube.
What Graphite does well
- Builds strategy from its own data studies
- Works on Reddit and YouTube presence, where AI tools often look
- Keeps the team small and senior by design
Pro tip: Graphite suits a Series B to Series D tech company. A local business will likely find the model too specialized.
8. First Page Sage
| Agency detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Founded | 2009 |
| Headquarters | San Francisco, CA |
| Best for | B2B and professional services firms that sell on expertise |
| Key differentiator | Long-running thought leadership content program, now aimed at AI search |
| Specialties | Thought leadership SEO, GEO, content marketing, B2B SEO |
Evan Bailyn founded First Page Sage. He’s an early voice on generative engine optimization and often speaks and writes about it. The firm lists clients such as Salesforce, Microsoft, US Bank, Logitech and Verizon.
First Page Sage’s model centers on expert-written thought leadership content. It publishes a large archive of original research and industry rankings.
What First Page Sage does well
- Writes long-form expert content on complex B2B topics
- Publishes regular research that earns links and citations
- Goes after hard, expensive search terms that others avoid
- Has more than 15 years of search work behind it
Pro tip: First Page Sage publishes rankings of agencies in the same markets it sells into. Read the methodology behind any ranking before you rely on it, including this one.
What is an AI citation worth to your business?
An AI citation is worth roughly twice the organic clicks of an uncited listing on the same query. Here’s the math with Seer’s 2025 averages.
Say your brand earns 50,000 impressions a month on queries that trigger an AI Overview.
| Scenario | Organic CTR | Monthly clicks | Leads at 3% conversion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cited in the AI Overview | 2.07% | 1,035 | 31 |
| Not cited | 0.94% | 470 | 14 |
| Same query with no AI Overview | 3.35% | 1,675 | 50 |
The citation adds 565 clicks and about 17 leads a month. The 3% conversion rate is an example; plug in your own.
The last row matters too. Even a cited brand gets fewer clicks than it would with no AI Overview at all. So AEO protects traffic you’d otherwise lose. It doesn’t bring back the old click rates. Any agency that promises otherwise isn’t reading the data.
How do you spot an agency selling outdated AEO tactics?
Ask what the agency does first. If the answer is an llms.txt file or rewriting pages into small chunks, be careful. Google has said neither helps.
Google’s Gary Illyes said in July 2025 that Google doesn’t support llms.txt. Google’s 2026 optimization guidance goes further. It tells site owners to skip llms.txt, content chunking and AI-specific rewrites for its generative AI features. Chrome’s Lighthouse tool does check for llms.txt, but for browser agents, not search visibility.
Watch for these other red flags:
- A guaranteed #1 spot in ChatGPT. No one controls how a model answers.
- Reports that show only a visibility score, with no traffic or leads.
- A plan with no off-site work. AI tools lean on what other sites say about you.
- Advice to rank in Bing as the whole ChatGPT strategy. OpenAI now leans on its own index and other sources.
- No prompt testing. An agency should show you who gets cited today before it changes anything.
Choose the right partner
The right agency depends on what your marketing is missing today. Name recognition at a conference matters less.
Choose a full-funnel growth partner if:
- AI tools mention competitors but not you
- Your organic traffic dropped after AI Overviews spread in your category
- You run Google Ads or Meta ads and need them planned alongside AEO
- Your board or owner wants AI search tied to leads and revenue
Choose a specialist for a specific gap if:
- Your site has deep technical problems at enterprise scale
- You’re a funded SaaS company that grows mainly through content
- Your brand needs press and third-party mentions more than on-site fixes
- You want a research-led team for a venture-backed tech product
Any brand can start with a free look at where AI tools mention it today. Talk to the Jives team about a custom AI SEO game plan.
